Lichfield International Ltd traces its history back to 1916, when New Zealand armed forces were involved in World War 1. At this time the original partners secured an important contract to supply 40 dozen shirts per week to the NZ Army.
From this modest beginning, located in premises in Lichfield Street, Christchurch, the company soon established a reputation for quality and reliability which has continued to the present day.
For many years Lichfield’s name was synonymous with the classic white business shirt our grandfathers wore. While this timeless garment is still an important part of Lichfield’s business, the company has adapted to an ever changing business environment and fashion market.
With the phasing out of import licensing in the 80’s, local manufacturing was very soon to become uneconomic. To survive under the new regime the company quickly adapted to importing products made to its own design and specification. At this time Lichfield held the exclusive licence from Yves Saint Laurent to market their business shirts in New Zealand. Through this business partnership Lichfield was able to utilise this brand’s manufacturing sources which had the necessary experience and record for reliability and quality.
Today Lichfield is one of New Zealand's leading apparel suppliers in the corporate uniform and retail market throughout Australasia. Lichfield continues to offer a diverse range of apparel solution to the highest quality as it has done since 1916. Lichfield products can be purchased through most men's retail store and corporate uniform supports throughout New Zealand and Australia.
